EMOTIONAL VAMPIRES
We are drawn to personal relationships for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, we tend to be drawn to the wrong types of relationships when our confidence is lacking. We often times do not recognize the unhealthy aspects of a relationship especially if we under-value ourselves. Emotional vampires are individuals who feed off our insecurity. These individuals are the types of people who develop friendships based on what they can get from the other person and use the other person to feel better about themselves. These people are not interested in who you are or have the ability to give anything to the relationship but make you feel you need them or are lucky to have them in your life. These relationships make us feel emotionally drained and give little if anything back They waste a lot of our time with gossip, critical comments, complaining, using us to diminish their own insecurity without giving any thought to providing comfort or security to us. The best way to increase and keep confidence high is to reevaluate whom you are spending your time with and if they are worth spending time with. Although, it is difficult to cut the cord on emotional relationships it must be done. These relationships do nothing and cost everything regarding your confidence.
